At Last, Cathedra
THE EVERLASTING MAN is now being bound
The above image is not a mockup. It’s also not a photograph per se, but it is an image of the actual bound Chesterton book, which very well may be the most beautiful book we have produced yet, inserted into a nonexistent background. By way of which we offer the supporting evidence.
Above and below are actual photographs of the first copy to be bound complete with hubs on Tuesday. As those of you with the educated eyes to see, it is bound in blue pigskin leather, with three spine hubs and a very clean French groove on the spine. One thing that is probably not as apparent is that our stamp designs now take the spine groove into account, which affects the visual perception of the centering of the cover image.
Unfortunately, we are not yet binding the Letter Editions of THE EVERLASTING MAN because we are still waiting on the genuine 22k gold, which will likely not arrive for another two months. We learned, much to our dismay, that the European manufacturer from whom we had been obtaining it is no longer manufacturing a genuine gold foil product.
But, what are another few months when it comes to waiting for such a timeless masterpiece. We will announce the current Cathedra subscription book on Monday.
