The above image is a mockup. But it is a mockup made from the actual stamp now being applied to the cases for the Castalia History currently being prepared for binding, which is scheduled for later this week. Obviously, we will provide pictures of the finished books as soon as they are available. An image of the actual stamped case is below.
The stamp design of the cover is ornate and elegant, but no trouble for the skill of our bookbinder, as the stamping is very clean despite the high level of detail. The ISTORIE FIORENTINE on the cover is not a misspelling, but the proper Italian name of the book.
HISTORY OF FLORENCE has been designed to pair beautifully on the bookshelf with DISCOURSES ON LIVY, as it has a matching spine design and is bound in the same black Italian cowhide as the previous Machiavelli book. The one difference is that the newer book will have the French groove in it, but that doesn’t show when the two books are set next to each other on the shelf.
Speaking of Castalia History, now that it is September, we will announce the current History subscription book tomorrow. And we will leave you with a tribute to what is generally considered to be one of the better months of the year.
