Dracula: the Binding
Bram Stoker's masterpiece is now being bound
As you can see, we’ve begun stamping DRACULA. That’s not a stamping mistake on the D and the R, that’s where the red foil will appear. Obviously, we have to stamp all the silver before we stamp the red, so we’ll post the completed stamps when they’re done. However, if you look at the lines on the cover, you can see how clean and precise our newly-renovated press is operating.
And now the red foil has been applied. This is what the full two-color stamp looks like. We’ve also got a new system and a new press that provide for much better, much more reliable hubs on the spine, as you can see below.
Due to the way in which subscribers informed us they preferred the look of the Library AWAKE IN THE NIGHT LAND to the blue-and-gold Libraria edition, we’re using red-and-silver foil instead of gold on the Libraria editions as well. The design looks spectacular on the ebony goatskin.
We’re expecting to finish up the binding of both editions early next week, then send them off to the warehouse for delivery to the subscribers. This will mark the bindery reaching full operational status, as we’ve already got five more sets of book blocks ready to begin the binding process.
