Stamp Design: JANE EYRE
A first look at the cover of Jane Eyre
This is, of course, a mockup of what the actual book is likely to look like, with the exception of the fact that the colors have not yet been chosen. Below, the actual stamp design can be seen.
JANE EYRE will be bound in pigskin for the Library edition, which is why it will actually feature the French groove seen in the mockup. We have finished binding the third set of DRACULA books, and the results are pretty spectacular. Below are the first photos of the pigskin editions, which will be randomly distributed to the subscribers.
The French groove, which is done in a slightly more pronounced style than the Franklin Library style, really adds a nice touch of class to the books that is missing from the Easton Press style. It also helps the book stay open comfortably.
You can really see the true pattern of the grain here, which the cowhide replicates reasonably well, but can’t truly replicate the feel.
The foil-stamping continues to be excellent regardless of the leather.
An unretouched close-up shows the grain, the precision of the stamping, and the firmness of the spine hubs.
We’ll be doing three more books in the cowhide, Beowulf, Losing Military Supremacy, and History of Freedom of Thought before switching over entirely to the pigskin.
