The Legend Legends, Legendarily
Chuck Dixon owns social media
Longtime DC, Marvel, and Arkhaven author Chuck Dixon, also known as “The Legend”, came under heavy criticism on the social media site X recently after posting an image about Batman working for ICE drawn by one of his longtime collaborators, Sergio Carello.
This prompted a series of increasingly bizarre responses from critics on X, including charges that the longtime author of Batman and creator of the villain Bane “had never read a Batman comic”. But the funniest and most spurious charge was that Chuck Dixon’s career had fallen off and that he was now spent as a creative force, to which The Legend responded with arguably the most epic smackdown ever seen on social media.
It’s a lot funnier if you understand that A WORKING MAN was based on one of Chuck Dixon’s novels, it was the #1 movie in America in its opening week, and several sequels are in production.
However, The Legend is also publishing a special signed first edition of his latest novel, GUNS OF MARS, with Castalia Library. And this special edition is particularly special due to the chapter headings illustrated by one of The Legend’s favorite illustrators, Arkhaven’s own Ademir Leal. Each of the 28 chapters will feature an original chapter heading illustration, two of which can be seen below.
The signed first edition of Chuck Dixon’s GUNS OF MARS is sold out, but we expect to have a few extra copies once the production run of 110 is bound. And, of course, Castalia House will publish regular hardcover and ebook editions, although these will not contain the illustrations that are only available in the first edition.
We’re now in the process of laying out the interior, so unless there are any unforeseen delays, it should be available toward the end of the first quarter of 2026.

I’m glad I got my order in before they sold out! I eagerly await receiving the book next year.
