The Revised Schedule
Announcing the revised schedule for Library, Libraria, and History books
The results of the subscribers’ poll were as follows:
81% extend the schedule as suggested
10% charge direct shipping costs
08% raise the subscription payments
02% extend the schedule differently
After reviewing the results and discussing the matter with both the production and shipping teams, we are going to revise the delivery schedules starting from January 2025 as follows:
The Castalia Library schedule is now four books per year. The monthly subscription will remain the same. All the 2025 books with the exception of METAPHYSICS will be bound in the deluxe new pigskin leather; the fourth Aristotle book will be bound in the top-grain cowhide that matches its three companion volumes.
JAN-MAR: ICELANDIC EDDA
APR-JUN: QUO VADIS
JUL-SEP: METAPHYSICS
OCT-DEC: THE TALE OF GENJI VOL. I
JAN-MAR: THE TALE OF GENJI VOL. II
The Libraria Castalia schedule is four books per year, and the monthly subscription will be reduced from $125 to $100 effective later today.
JAN-MAR: ICELANDIC EDDA
APR-JUN: QUO VADIS
JUL-SEP: METAPHYSICS
OCT-DEC: THE TALE OF GENJI VOL. I
JAN-MAR: THE TALE OF GENJI VOL. II
The Castalia History is now three books per year and the monthly subscription prices will remain the same for both the US and the EU. All three books will be bound in the new deluxe pigskin leather.
JAN-APR: THE GALLIC WARS
MAY-AUG: THE HISTORY OF FLORENCE
SEP-DEC: THE ART OF WAR IN THE MIDDLE AGES
No change to the Cathedra schedule.
We will not apologize for doing what absolutely needed to be done as a result of the 17 percent increase in the price of printing book interiors, 32 percent increase in the price of binding books in the USA, and the possible 39 percent increase in the price of shipping to the USA. This isn’t something we’re doing for fun, to annoy the subscribers, or as a naked cash grab to convince our parent company to refrain from shutting us down.
However, anyone who objects to the new release schedule and the consequent effective increase in the per-book prices should let us know via email and we will be happy to arrange a full refund for all Library, Libraria, or History payments made between January 1, 2025 and August 4, 2025.
If you would like to cancel your Library, Libraria, or History subscription, please email subs@castalialibrary.com with REFUND in the subject.
There may be some individual scenarios where the numbers don’t add up perfectly due to extra payments, missed payments, and annual subscriptions. We are currently sorting those out and we will make sure that no one is getting the short end of the stick. If it turns out you are eligible for a free book or two, we will contact you and let you know what is available from existing stocks or spare books from other subscriptions that might be of interest to you.
We are also committed to getting caught up to the revised schedule as quickly as possible. I spent most of the morning talking to two of the industry’s leading casemakers and arranging for a test of our cover materials on one company’s forthcoming new machine. They are potentially interested in providing us with a discounted test model that would increase our production speed by a factor of 50.
But in the meantime, the production team are hard at work getting the next two volumes of History out the door and over to the warehouse.
Thanks, as always, to the strong support you have shown to Castalia Library, and rest assured that unlike other publishers, we are not cutting corners or reducing quality in order to meet the challenges of today’s cost structures. To the contrary, we are actively seeking to raise the bar and put more ground in between our books and those of our competitors, past and present.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me. But we believe this is the best way to protect everyone’s interests in the least painful manner.

I appreciate the transparency. From one consumer perspective, maintaining the monthly price and extending the print schedule is incredibly helpful for budgeting. Thank you to the Castalia crew for considering all the options.
I subscribe to all three and will continue to do so! Y’all make a great quality product and I’ve been happy with all of the books. Thanks for the update.
