My son is 12 and we just finished reading Watership Down. He still doesnt love reading but he loved reading this book so thank you for that recommendation. He has developed an interest in Japanese culture and I was wondering if any of the books you have translated would be appropriate for a 12 year old.
I would read the Yoshikawa books first to see if you think they are suitable. They are Samurai fiction, but the violence is not too gory or and the action is first-rate and non-stop. I would NOT recommend the Soseki books, or this one.
