D is closest to proper heraldry, with the wording under the shield. It would be better if the top of the shield were flat. Write out the blazon!

I prefer D, and then A.

Since the logo will appear on the book spine, I could image a simpler version of D (without the ribbon, since it'll be quite small and might be difficult to read) with the horse and castle drawn in a slightly simpler manner to capture the essence of both.

I voted A and would like to see the book have the detail shown in C. D was a close second for me because I really like the banner. Nice work

I get the cross, the chateau and the book as symbols. But why the horse?

It's the symbol of where the bindery is located.

FWIW- I voted for D but like A too. Just thought D would be cleaner on spine of book.

Same. I'm also torn on the different cross designs. But I don't know the history of their origins for C and D
