That was a really fascinating comparison. I read through the versions several times again after yesterday's vote, and became increasingly unsure whether one of them is consistently better.

The Vennewitz version simply takes too many liberties for my taste in comparison with the original. But it is superior in a few isolated instances.

The Castalia version is more than competitive - Congratulations!

Would it be a major undertaking to fine-tune this AI for translations into other target languages? For instance, I find it very difficult to choose a German translation of Russian classics, as many contain phrasing that is obviously odd.

Our sister company, Editions Alpines, is planning to do exactly that.

I'm thrilled to read that Castalia's rendition will go to print! It truly is remarkable.

Excellent news! Number Three was my favored translation.

The wife and I are delighted. We speak German and Japanese in the home daily and ALWAYS during the Holidays, when visiting family overseas. She's thrilled that I'll be able to read some of her favorite works in English now, as my Japanese leaves something to be desired.

But, I'm getting better every day. Having fun learning day by day as she teaches our children. I give 'em Deutsch lessons and she covers everything Yamato-related.

Looking forward to collecting as many of these works as possible in the Japanese & German original formats & especially the translated English. Gratitude, Castalia House.

Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, but will there be future sections of Castalia House publishing dedicated to excellent works in their original languages? Of course once the Castalia House translations begin to approach or perhaps exceed the abilities of William Weaver translating Italian or Jay Rubin translating Japanese?

I'm particularly interested in Italian, German and Japanese hardback editions, ebooks as well.

Sort of. Editions Alpines was founded for precisely that purpose.
